Jamie's world

Jamie is 16 and from New Zealand, She began to make comedic pictures/collages like this one in August 2012:

She then made videos in her home, occasionally dressing up and doing humorous impersonations of people in her life. She often involves her sister and as she has became more popular she has gone out of her home and her circle of friends and family to opt out and make new videos. Jamie generally makes around two videos a months but it often varies, the main attraction to Jamie's videos is her down to earth nature, she is not afraid to make a fool of herself; this makes her videos funny. As someone of a similar age I think Jamie is very good at making people feel like they know her as she is very identifiable.

Jamie links up with another YouTube fanatic who makes make-up tutorials and also lives in New Zealand. Jamie attempts to do the professionals make-up, however she has no clue how to go about it. Like many teens we rely on make-up tutorials and try and teach ourselves, but Jamie isn't bothered about make-up and is very natural in her personality and appearance, making her seem very real. By filming with other popular YouTube personalities it widens her audiences which also contributes to her popularity.

Jamie films with her close friend and they are sharing confessions. Although there responses are not serious they make it very humorous and laugh at each others silly stories which develops into a funny natural conversation, as there is no posing and the mood is very informal. Watching it you feel like you are there and part of the conversation which also increases the connection people feel with her.

The video is about Jamie and her friend investigating what there is to do in her 'boring' town Napier. She and one her friends take us to a modern restaurant with cool desserts, a lollipop shop where she eats distasteful sweets and has to throw it up. Also a music shop where she plays around with the instruments in a unprofessional manner. Furthermore, she takes us to a bead shop to buy an ankle bracelet, she is stunned when the lady that works there said she had 'fat ankles and has to use extra thread'. As Jamie's takes us around the town's attractions we feel closer to her and we feel like we know her better, appreciative of her sharing her life with us.

Jamie uses music to illustrate the mood and comedy of the sequence, this makes is feel lighthearted. Jamie uses an electric shock machine as a punishment for not answering a questionnaire correctly. Her sister is the interviewer and seeks enjoyment in seeing her sister suffer, the natural feeling of the conversation and questions relative to popular culture, along with questions that not many people in her audience would know either such as geography questions makes us relate to Jamie and creates a stronger relationship with her audience.
